New Year's Drinks

started off with one shot of absinthe (St George) with cold water poured over sugar cube.
ran out of absinthe and tried a
Flying Grasshopper
1 oz vodka
1/2 oz green creme de menthe
1/2 oz white creme de cocoa
stir well in cocktail shaker w/ice and pour into frosted cocktail glass
this would be better as a digestive

then we switched to Cran-Pomtinis
1 oz Pom Cran juice
1 1/2 oz vodka
1/1/2 oz freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
1/2 oz sour mix
shake well in cocktail shaker w/ice and pour into frosted cocktail glass
a frothy and healthy drink

then we tried a Down Under
2 tsp B & B
2 tsp creme de cassis
2 tsp tripel sec
1 oz vodka
shake well in cocktail shaker w/ice and pour into frosted cocktail glass
i thought this was too sweet so we added a little rye whiskey

we switched to beer at this point and at midnight pop-opened a 2008 bottle of Sly Fox 2008 x-mas ale w/ginger, cinnamon, all-spice, nutmeg, and cloves. Mellow, not to sweet and not overspiced. Perfect.

we looked at the clock just as it was 1:01 01-01-010. Maybe we need to get out more?

New Year's morning I burned the butter for fried eggs and broke one out of four for over-easy. They weren't pretty, but they were delicious. Is this what 2010's going to be about: ugly but actually very delicious? I'll take that.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
